Our Custom Sweater Production Process

A reliable sweater production process is not only about knitting. It includes design checking, yarn planning, sample correction, size control, production follow-up, inspection and packaging. Below is the standard workflow we use for most custom knitwear orders.

1. Design Review & Tech Pack Checking

The process starts with your design file, reference sample, sketch or tech pack. Our team reviews the sweater style, measurements, yarn requirements, knitting structure, gauge, trims, color references and finishing details.

• Review design drawings, reference photos or original samples
• Check size chart, measurements and tolerance requirements
• Suggest suitable yarn composition, gauge and knitting technique
• Confirm logo, label, packaging and private label requirements

2. Yarn Selection & Material Confirmation

After confirming the design direction, we help select suitable yarns based on hand feel, cost, season, market positioning and washing requirements. Common options include cotton, wool, merino wool, cashmere blend, acrylic, viscose, nylon, polyester and recycled yarn blends.

• Natural yarns: cotton, wool, merino wool, cashmere, alpaca
• Blended yarns: cotton acrylic, wool nylon, viscose nylon, polyester blends

3. Sampling & Fit Adjustment

Once yarn and technical details are confirmed, we make the first sample for your review. The sample helps confirm shape, size, hand feel, color, knitting tension, pattern effect and finishing quality before bulk production.

• Sample development based on your tech pack or reference sample
• Checking of measurements, fit, neckline, sleeve shape and garment length
• Adjustment of yarn tension, gauge, pattern and finishing if needed
• Pre-production sample approval before bulk order starts

4. Bulk Knitting Production

After sample approval, bulk production begins. Our technicians prepare machine programs, yarn allocation and production schedule. Sweater panels are knitted according to confirmed specifications, including front body, back body, sleeves, collars, cuffs and other parts.

• Computerized flat knitting for stable panel shape and size
• Supported gauges from chunky knit to fine-gauge knitwear
• Knitting structures include rib, cable, jacquard, intarsia, pointelle and fully fashioned knitting
• In-line checking during knitting to reduce defects before assembly

5. Linking, Sewing & Garment Assembly

Knitted panels are linked or sewn together by experienced workers. This step affects the comfort, durability and overall appearance of the sweater. We check shoulder seams, armholes, side seams, collars, cuffs and labels during assembly.

• Panel linking for collars, shoulders, sleeves and body parts
• Sewing for labels, trims, pockets, zippers or buttons
• Optional embroidery, crochet details, appliqué or decorative finishing
• Thread trimming and basic appearance checking after assembly

6. Washing, Steaming & Finishing

Finishing helps improve the final hand feel, garment shape and appearance. Depending on yarn type and buyer requirements, sweaters can be washed, softened, steamed, blocked and pressed before final inspection.

• Softening wash, enzyme wash or other finishing treatments if required
• Steam pressing and shape setting for better garment appearance
• Measurement re-checking after washing and finishing
• Removal of loose threads, surface lint or minor finishing issues

7. Quality Control & Final Inspection

Quality control is carried out during production and before packing. Our QC team checks measurements, stitching, color consistency, yarn defects, stains, holes, trims, labels and packaging details according to the approved sample and order requirements.

• Measurement checking based on approved size chart
• Inspection of knitting defects, broken stitches and uneven tension
• Color, hand feel, label, hang tag and packaging confirmation
• Final inspection before goods are released for shipment

8. Packing & International Delivery

After inspection, sweaters are packed according to your private label or retail requirements. We support custom polybags, recycled packaging, size stickers, barcodes, hang tags and carton marks for international shipping.

• Custom woven labels, care labels, hang tags and barcode stickers
• Carton packing based on buyer requirements
